About Us

The 185th Scout Group was formed in 1929 under the name 185 Glasgow (Cathkin) Troop by Mr McClelland and serves the areas of Burnside in South Lanarkshire. We are one of the 12 groups that make up South East District, which is one of the 6 districts in Clyde Region

Everyone is welcome to join us no matter what your background.

Our Group provides a range of indoor and outdoor activities to suit a range of ages.
Scouting actively engages and supports young people in their personal development, empowering them to make a positive contribution to society.

We have 5 sections running on our Group:

  • Squirrels (4 – 6 Yrs): Fri 6:00pm –7:00pm
  • Beavers (6 – 8 Yrs): Fri 6:00pm –7:00pm
  • Cubs (8 – 10½ Yrs): Fri 6:30pm – 7:45pm
  • Scouts (10½ – 14 Yrs): Fri 7:45pm – 9:30pm (run fortnightly)
  • Explorers (14 – 18 Yrs): Fri 7:45pm – 9:15pm (run fortnightly)

We are an extremely popular group and our numbers are constantly increasing so if you have a young child interested in joining, we encourage you to register early to ensure they get a place.
